Help Bring Retired Working Dogs Home

Military and Contractor Working Dogs can spend years detecting explosives, guarding bases, and protecting people in dangerous places. When their work ends, retirement does not automatically include transportation home.

Mission K9 Rescue helps bring these dogs home and provides the care they need after years of service.

Five dogs remain in Kuwait because Houthi threats and attacks on the airport prevent us from getting them out. We do not know when they will be able to leave. Until a safe route home is available, we must continue covering their boarding and care.

There are always more contract working dogs waiting to come home, and we could learn any day of another group that needs our help. Continued support allows us to prepare for those requests while caring for the dogs already depending on us.

Getting a retired working dog home requires transportation, veterinary testing, government approvals, and coordination across borders. Some dogs may need to travel as air cargo, at an estimated cost of $3,000 per dog.

Once they arrive, they may need medical treatment and rehabilitation before they are ready for adoption or reunion with a former handler. Food, kennels, and experienced caregivers are part of that commitment every day.

What Your Donation Pays For

Mission K9 Rescue provides the veterinary care required by the working dogs in our care. Those expenses alone average at least $20,000 each month.

Donations also help pay for international and domestic transportation, required medical testing, kennels, food, trained caregivers, rehabilitation, reunions with former handlers, and safe placement when a reunion is not possible.

Five dogs are still waiting in Kuwait.

We don’t know when we can get them out.

Mission K9 Rescue has brought home nine working dogs who were formerly in Kuwait.

After several months in Saudi Arabia, they were finally able to leave through Riyadh’s international airport.

The day after our last transport volunteer departed, the airport was attacked. More attacks followed, and people lost their lives. We are grateful our dogs and volunteers made it out safely.

Five dogs remain in Kuwait because the Houthis are threatening further attacks on the airport we need to use to bring them home. We do not know when they will be able to leave.

Until we can get them out safely, we must keep paying for their boarding and care. There is no firm departure date and no way to know how many more weeks of boarding we will need to cover. Your donation helps us keep these five dogs cared for while we work to find a safe way home.

Here at home, we have made progress on our veterinary bill, with $9,000 still remaining. We need help paying that balance while continuing to feed, house, and care for the dogs at our ranch.

We also reunited two more Military Working Dogs with their former handlers this past month, and two more reunions are coming up. These are people who served beside their dogs and never forgot them. Donations cover the transportation, veterinary clearance, and coordination needed to bring them back together.
